Heat Pump Hot Water System Upgrade

Switch to a heat pump and save BIG on your energy bills.

Heat pumps are energy efficient and highly economical! Thanks to the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program, we can replace your existing electric hot water system with a new energy-efficient heat pump at ZERO product price and heavily subsidised installation costs.

How do heat pumps compare to other water heaters?

Heat pump water heaters are becoming more crucial to a sustainable future worldwide. This may be mostly attributed to their exceptional efficiency in terms of electricity use.

Heat Pumps:

Are very energy-efficient, using just a fraction of the power required by conventional electric hot water heaters.

Are very eco-friendly and are thus recommended by most state governments as a replacement for electric or gas hot water systems.

Need minimal upkeep. The filter has to be cleaned just once every few months.

Offer great value for money. Though the initial expenditure is higher than other systems, the ongoing expenses are cheaper.

Pay for themselves faster for bigger households

Produce hot water more easily, when the air is warmer.

Can serve as a thermal battery, if used alongside a solar system and a timer to heat water throughout the day.

Other Heating Systems:

Solar water heaters might restrict the area available for a solar PV system to provide electricity for the rest of your home. Plus, they may be unreliable in colder states like Victoria, where they may need an electric or gas booster system in winter.

Electric hot water systems use an element and tank. They're the cheapest to purchase but quite costly to operate.

While gas hot water systems were formerly the most cost-effective, heat pump systems are now more efficient. Without gas lines, installing them is expensive and time-consuming.

How do heat pumps save you money?

In principle, a hot water heat pump works exactly like a refrigerator, but backwards.

A fan draws in hot air into the refrigerant-filled condenser coil, where the heat is transferred to the water stored in the tank. The gas then condenses back into a liquid and travels to the evaporator, where the cycle repeats. What’s more, like a split-system air conditioner, a heat pump hot water unit is able to isolate its heating process within its walls to save energy.

What does this mean?

Replace your outdated electric hot water system with an energy-efficient heat pump to save money and reduce your environmental footprint.

How much will I actually save?

In Victoria, where electric storage hot water systems are widely used, the average cost to heat water for a typical household is about $900 per year. Hot water heat pumps can do the same job for about $685 less, which is 76% cheaper.
